"According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. The bee, however, flies anyways. Because...wait a minute. This isn't the Bee movie."

Biography
Phoenix has spent most of his life with a strong sense of justice which was instilled in him at a very young age.
As a child in elementary school, he was wrongly accused of theft and put on trial by his classroom. The trauma of feeling hopeless and with no one to turn to left a profound impact on him, and shaped his desire to enter law and become a defense attorney.
It was ultimately a young Miles Edgeworth who stood up for Phoenix during this trial to prove him innocent. Another student, Larry Butz, also vouched for Phoenix. This began a lifelong and complex friendship between the three of them.
This relationship would take a dramatic turn when Miles' father, Gregory Edgeworth, was killed. Miles was adopted by an infamous prosecutor, Manfred von Karma, who would eventually train Miles into becoming a ruthless and morally dubious prosecutor as well. Phoenix intuitively knew his friend was hurting and needed help, and he devoted himself to becoming a lawyer with the hope that he could one day save his friend.
Phoenix went on to study both art and law at Ivy University. In 2014, Phoenix was accused of murdering a fellow student. The attorney who took on his defense was Mia Fey, who would eventually become Phoenix's mentor. Mia proved his innocence in a dramatic trial in which Mia finally caught a killer who had evaded her once before.
Phoenix saw Mia's bravery and tenacity firsthand, and she inspired him to fully pursue law. He eventually joined Mia's own law firm, the Fey and Co. Law Offices.
After winning his first trial to defend his own friend, Larry Butz, Phoenix went on to succeed in a long and storied career as a defense attorney. This was the first milestone solidifying the year 2016 as one of the most crucial points in Phoenix's life.
In his second trial, Phoenix's life took a drastic turn. His mentor, Mia, was murdered in her office late at night. Phoenix took on the defense of the accused, who was Mia's younger sister, Maya Fey. In defending Maya, Phoenix found himself facing off against Miles Edgeworth himself, who had grown into an unscrupulous prosecutor determined to win at all costs. Phoenix was able to save Maya, and Miles was delivered his first defeat in his career, which would shakes Miles to the core.
Once Maya recovered from the initial shock of losing her sister, she joined Phoenix as a professional assistant and helped him to reform Mia's former law firm into its current form, the Wright and Co. Law Offices. Maya has since become one of Phoenix's best friends, as well as closest allies and confidants.
With Maya now a major element of Phoenix's life, he became aware that Maya had been training to become a spirit medium, which is typical of women of the Fey clan. Phoenix's relationship with the Fey clan over the years would have major implications for both himself and Maya.
After facing his former friend Miles again in another intense legal battle, Miles himself was accused of murder on the night of December 25. The prosecutor of this trial was none other than Miles' own mentor, von Karma, who had gone four decades completely undefeated and had earned a legendary status as a prosecutor.
In a three-day trial, many twists and turns happened which culminated in revisiting the murder of Gregory Edgeworth fifteen years prior. Miles admitted to killing his own father via a tragic accident, and the trauma had been eating him alive this entire time. Phoenix defended his friend Miles from multiple sides and proved his innocence in the past as well as the present, and proved that von Karma was responsible for both incidents of murder.
Phoenix defeated von Karma for the first time in forty years, and gained fame himself as a reputable and skilled defense attorney in the legal world. More importantly to him on a personal level, however, was the fact that Phoenix had saved his friend Miles from following the dark path that von Karma had laid out for Miles. Miles would later go on to reforming his ideals and methods as a prosecutor, and the two of them rekindled their friendship and respect to form a lifelong bond of trust.
Eventually, Phoenix met and befriend Maya's cousin, Pearl Fey, who would be involved in several major incidents related to the Fey clan over the years.
Phoenix spent the next three years gaining even more notoriety and credentials throughout various trials and tribulations, making quite a name for himself while befriending various individuals and saving countless clients. He eventually found himself with new rivals in the forms of Franziska von Karma, as well as a mysterious prosecutor named Godot, who was tied to Mia's past in major ways.
In February of 2019, Phoenix had put to rest a complicated chain of mysteries related to Mia's career and past relationships. Godot was revealed to be a past associate of Mia's, whose open grudge against Phoenix stemmed from his own interpretation that Phoenix had let Mia die and didn't protect her. However, in saving Maya once again from murder charges, Godot himself admit that Phoenix had finally come to his own as a lawyer, and at this point he fully inherited Mia's will and embodied her ideals.
At some point after that, Phoenix and Maya decided that they wanted to learn more about the history of the Fey clan. To that end, Maya suggested that the two of them travel abroad to the country of Japan, which the Fey clan had inhabited many generations ago before eventually migrating to their current home in America.
It is in early April of 2019 that Phoenix and Maya finally reached Japan, and the story of Logic and Trickster truly begins.
